促黃體生成素(LH)是由垂體前葉的促性腺激素細胞合成的一種糖蛋白,可促進膽固醇在性腺細胞內轉化為性激素。對于女性,促黃體生成素會刺激卵巢釋放卵子,它的周期性的極速上升導致每月的排卵的發(fā)生;對于男性,促黃體生成素刺激睪丸間質細胞合成睪丸素。顆粒細胞的黃體化與細胞增大和黃體酮生成增加有關,顆粒細胞與卵巢中發(fā)育的配子(卵子)密切相關。
